Our Family Halloween 2011
We celebrated our Halloween bit different this year. We got lucky to have attended a Filipino Kids party near our place. It’s rare to happen as only a few Filipinos I know that has kids. Anyhow, Gigi, a new Filipina friend, had her baby Cortney’s first birthday and baptismal celebration last Sunday with Halloween costume party theme for the kids. Cortney is such a darling little girl and she was in a baby princess costume. Her other siblings were dressed in princess costume too. And her cake has a pink princess theme in it. We had a great time to bond with other Filipino families in our area. Especially me that I can finally have friends that can speak with my own language which is Cebuano. I had a great time talking to my fellow countrymen. One new friend that I just encountered there noticed my Diamond Ring and asked where I bought it. I told her that my husband bought it in a pawnshop in Philippines. The diamond ring was his Engagement proposal to me. I told her my love story and she said I should write a book about it as it was unusual. I thought she was joking but she was serious in suggesting it to me. Funny how we talk and talk as if we are lost friends talking about our Engagement Rings, Wedding Rings and how our Love Stories went behind it. Boy, its been quite a while I haven’t talked face to face to someone with my own language. That’s how advantageous going to Filipino parties are to me so I can refresh my language.
Mr. V was being passed around by the Filipinas and I’m glad he took it very well. He stared and cooing to their faces. I guess he easily warmed up as they look like mommy.
Mr. G was cranky. I just don’t know why. He wants stay outside while everyone is inside. It was unusual as he is usually people friendly. I kept on fetching him to join other kids as it his moment to play with Fil-Am kids. He cried. And it took him a while to settle down and warm up to the people around him. I took serious time eating with lots of Filipino food that were being prepared. Boy, it hit the spot, and I felt like I am at my ancestral home again.
After the party, we took Mr.G for Trick or Treating at YMCA. His Halloween Coustume was Buzz lightyear this year. He felt tired at first but later he blend in with other kids in the said celebration. It was cool because the YMCA in our area had this haunted rooms set up. Has this dark and glowing lights, and people on the side will suddenly stand up with their creepy moves and costumes and some makes creepy sounds that makes you frightened even though you know there’s got to be something going on. I got always victimized and I kept on shouting. I know, silly me.
