First Communion Parties | Kids
Spring is no longer limited to graduation parties or the start of the wedding season. It is also the time when your 7 or 8 year-old child will have the First Holy Communion. It is a ceremonial passage for the young Catholics into the church community. First Communion has become a grand and elaborate event that most parents actually look forward too.
On this day, boys usually wear white suits while the girls wear white lace or satin dresses, girls also wear headdress or white veil which is a symbol of purity. Typically, after the family picture taking, the family celebration begins.
It used to be a simple first Communion reception or family party but has turned into a lavish event. It is always focused on the child who took the Communion for the first time. It is because for Catholic families, this event means a lot not only for the child but the entire family too.
The first Communion party could be a simple family get-together or a grand open house celebration where you can actually send Communion invitations to friends and relatives. You can choose from the various first Communion invitations designs. There are designs which are appropriate for little girls andboys first Communion invitations too. Or if you do not have time to send invitations you can just give them a call and inform them about the party.
You may want to try something different for your child’s Communion party and consider a themed event. This has become a popular trend and you can just simple incorporate it into your Communion party. You can have an outdoor carnival theme complete with games, clowns, jugglers and carnival rides too. Or you can just simple put colourful decorations to create a very festive afternoon and you do not need to spend much too.
For indoor Communion party, you can have a Wizard of Oz theme or Harry Potter and even Spy Kids too. Then come up with all sort of activities that kids and adults will enjoy. There can be face painting, caricature drawing and of course you need to have party games to make the celebration more fun and exciting for your child.
