7 tips for an age-defying hairstyle
There’s no question that your hair plays a big part in how you look and feel – after all, there’s a reason they call it a “bad hair day”! But did you know that with the right treatment, your hair can actually make you look younger? Here’s 7 ways to defy aging with these elegant hairstyles:
Color
Ever notice that bright blonde, bleached out hair closely resembles grey hair? Steer clear of platinum blondes, which tend to create a more severe look and accentuate wrinkles and fine lines. Instead, opt for honey and caramel-colored tones.
Highlights
Highlights are another great way to give a naturally youthful and sun-kissed look to any hairstyle. Again, steer clear of harsher shades and stick to warm tones for the most natural looking beauty.
Cut
While many older women opt for shorter dos, there’s no reason that long hair can’t keep you looking young and spry. Ask your hairdresser to cut your hair in soft layers that frame the face, which means hair isn’t weighed down at the bottom.
If you do decide to cut your hair short, make sure it’s easy for you to style it the way you want in the morning – there’s nothing worse than short hair that just won’t behave.

Treatment
Treat your hair to a leave in conditioner once every few weeks to retain moisture and ease out any knots. Ask your hairdresser for a leave-in treatment next time you’re at the salon for that smooth, shiny look.
Styling
The way you style your hair plays a big part in how youthful it looks. If your hair is long, use a thick curling iron or rollers to create loose, tousled looking curls. Spray with a flexible-hold hairspray for maximum shine.

Bangs
The saying goes: “Bangs are better than Botox”, which certainly makes sense when you consider that some of the most evident signs of aging are wrinkles in the forehead. Ask your hairstylist to cut side-sweeping bangs for a youthful, soft look.
Keep it simple
The most important rule of thumb when it comes to your hair is to keep it simple. You want a hairstyle that reflects your personality, but also one that’s easy to put together while running out the door in the morning.
Having a hairstyle that makes you feel good about yourself is important – a haircut or a new style can make you feel great and even increase your confidence when it comes to dating. Whether you’re already taken or using an online dating site like www.jazzedfreedating.com.au to meet singles in your area, make sure that whatever style you opt for, it’s something you feel comfortable and confident with every day.

Too much chemicals and whatever treatments you have in your hair, in the long run will take its tool. And always avoid warm bath for the hair.
I wish I could do all those here in Germany. They are just so expensive. It’s one of the most I miss in the Philippines, getting my hair pampered.
Honestly I’ve been wanting to have my hair colored but it is very expensive here. My friend told me she’ll do it for me but I don’t want to have any regret after
But anyways, I have very black hair and advices from my friends that if I apply color it will soften my face
I guess I really need to do it soon and see if does really make me look a little friendly hehehe
Hi Mel! I am thinking to get highlights because of this post. I want to look 5 years younger hehe
I’ll ask my hairdresser to put some bangs next year;)
I have stayed away from hair coloring for the longest time but I think I’m about to change my mind, really like to try something different.
ahhh.. i wish i can color my hair or just highlights it, but hubby doesnt want any other color except black. =( he strongly disagree of me coloring it. i am so tired of my black hair, i find it so boring and plain. i wanna try other color that will reflect my skin tone.
great tips! I will keep this in mind because I’m planning to change my hairstyle soon
i like that hairstyle on the above photo. just how i wish i have that much patience treating and styling my hair by myself — would be a real money saver but most of the time, i don’t so off to the salon, i go.
thanks sis for these helpful tips…
These are wonderful hair tips Momi Mel
I always wear a bangs because of my foreheade shhhh My hair grows faster that despite I want to keep it long, my husband wants me to keep it short
I even tried the long curly hair but it did not last. Now I am back to straight hair.
Are these your secrets Momi Mel? No wonder you are blooming lately
I like all the tips, they are very helpful
is here again mommy Mel! thanks for the tips.
I don’t give so much to my hair, tamad ako minsan but Beautiful hair adds beauty to our face .Thanks for the beauty tips.
Haven’t had my hair colored but I had it rebonded a couple of times. Just had a maintenance haircut a couple of weeks ago and I opted out to have bangs so it can keep up with the hair length.
I wish my hair was longer, like when I was a kid, so I could have bangs and layered hair with wavy ends, just like koreans
Thanks for the above useful tips. Gave me few ideas as well. Thanks!
I’d like to add a tip no. 8: find a good hair stylist! Not all people in the salon know what they’re doing. Most of them will just straighten/curl for profit. I had a hairstylist who objected rebond and I was quite furious about it at first, I am the customer so I should get what I want. My stylist gave me a haircut instead of the rebond. Little did I know that it would give way to the best hair days of my life! I love my hair stylist for it, and I sure did come back to her again and again.
Thank you so much for the tips!
Very interesting and as well as informative.
I tried all hair styles. And now I am back to simple hairstyle. I love to play with my hair…love to have new look.
I think the most important part is how you treat your hair.. keep it healthy as possible
I want to try different kinds of hairstyle but sometimes it would consumes time and effort talaga to make it good!
the color really helps a lot. white hair really makes you old even if your still young, if that matters. Yahweh bless.
I really wanna wear bangs but i have curly hair… hay…
lo.,, i even asked myself why is that mothers prefer short hair when they can look young with long hairs, right?
Being simple and happy inside-out make us young always. Our hairstyle has a great impact on how to look our age or even younger than we actually are.
