One of the new things we added in our homeschooling this year is the calendar time. I bought two new large cork boards. One for my kindergartner to tell the date, days of the week, weather, time, temp and season. The other board is for the fun poem and scripture reading worksheets that he did every week and for the themed worksheets that my preschooler has worked on.
Here’s little G smiling and preparing to answer his calendar time worksheets. He really enjoy doing this activity everyday when our school starts.
He pointed the month of September and year 2014 in the picture above.
He also said the days of the week. We also sang the Days of the week song with the tune of the Adams family theme.
He counts the numbers from the starting number to the present date and he also says it backwards, everyday. It really helped him to count not just forwards but backwards too.
Every day there is a different date/number. He also writes the number word of that date. In the picture above, it was the last day of September, so he wrote the number word thirty.
He also spell the day of the week, shade the number date like a bingo, recognize today’s number and numbers before and after that date.
He liked writing what time it is, coloring the thermometer after finding out what the temperature it is outside (we have an outdoor thermometer) and drawing clothes to match appropriate clothing for the weather.
He’s so proud he got to complete the weather graph for September.
He is also happy that he got to complete and create a September calendar.
I got those daily activity sheets after I downloaded them for free at Confessionsofahomeschooler.com online. It’s really great to have those sheets for the kids to have an easy review when pointing out what’s going on in the calendar board.
He pointed out the last weather update for September.
He counted 1 to 30 and backwards in the calendar.
So that’s my busy kindergartner. Hope you enjoy our pictures!
